Participate in a creative movement workshop with Hendrix professor, Brigitte, to produce a community ensemble devised performance.
Explore devised performance and creative movement based health with us in a workshop with Hendrix College professor, Brigitte! The workshop will be held twice a week and participants are encouraged to attend as many sessions as they can. We'll explore different aspects of oral story telling, creative movement, music, and community artmaking. The end-result of this workshop will be a community performance held down at the stage on Monday, June 30th at 6:00 pm.
Schedule:
Mondays - 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm
Fridays - 10:00 am to 11:00 am
Performance - Monday, June 30th @ 6:00 pm

The process extends to gaining an understanding of local culture, history, and the music scene. Sharing of stories by participants will be the catalyst. Collaborating on the elements that bring people together through dance and the rehearsal/production process will lead to a dance performance. Exploring stories through movement, words and music will be the experiment. Diversity in age, race, and gender identity will be factors in the creative process.

Devised performance – frequently called collective creation – is a method of theatre-making in which the script or (if it is a predominantly physical work) performance score originates from collaborative, often improvisatory work by a performing ensemble. The class participants will be the ensemble.

This is a free program and is open to the public. Patrons age 18 and up and all level of abilities are encouraged to participate.
