Join us for an afternoon of light refreshments, community, and poetry!

We are thrilled to have Dr. Brian Larsen and Christopher Fettes at the Faulkner County Library for a second installment of Poetry @ The Public for 2025. Please join us from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm for light refreshments and a meet-and-greet with the poets. At 2:30 pm we'll take our seats and hear selected readings from our authors' works. This event is FREE and open to the public.

More about the authors:

Brian Larsen

Dr. Brian Larsen received his PhD in Literature and Creative Writing from Texas Tech University in 2019. His dissertation, Pilotage: Poems, won the University’s Doctoral Dissertation award and explores themes of family, faith, and place, drawing heavily from his time living in Ivory Coast, Benin, Taiwan, Ireland, and Italy. In addition to writing poetry, he has also written two novels currently looking for publishers: a shipwreck-narrative Steampunk novel, and a multi-generational literary novel that spans a couple of continents.

Currently active with the Conway Lantern Theatre, he has played the lead, Jack, in Oscar Wilde’s Importance of Being Earnest, and Player One/The Player King in Hamlet. A specialist in contemporary poetry, modernist poetry, and Irish Literature, Brian is currently a visiting Lecturer English at UCA and also teaches poetry classes in the Film, Theatre, and Creative Writing Department. When he is not too busy with other duties, Brian also serves on the editorial board of SLANT.

Christopher Fettes

Christopher Fettes earned both his BA and MA degrees in English from the University of Central Arkansas. He is currently poetry editor for Medicine & Meaning: A UAMS Literary Journal and a program director and instructor in the Fay W. Boozman College of Public Health at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he teaches a writing workshop.

Among Christopher’s recent publications are poems in Cave Region Review, Nude Bruce Review, Import Sky:Synchronicity and a chapbook titled A Loneliness in the Distance Between. He is also a member of the editorial board for SLANT.
