Join us for an afternoon of music in the library!
About The Boomers—Conrad Shumaker, Sara Shumaker, Mike Schaefer, and J. D. Hatfield—originally came together thirty years ago out of a shared love of playing traditional folk music and the songs of writers such as Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, John Prine, Jesse Winchester, and Greg Brown. Today they draw on a large catalogue of original material as well, dealing with lost and found love, the links between mortality and spirituality, and the frequent strangeness of everyday life. Performing frequently at acoustic venues in the central Arkansas area, they've drawn praise for their "complex and impressive picking" (Arkansas Democrat Gazette) and their "high-energy delivery" (C.A.F.E. [Central Arkansas Folk Entertainment] News). Their most recent CD, titled Healing of Music, features provocative original songs, driving fiddle tunes, and a few choice compositions by writers from outside the band.
