Join us for an afternoon of community, poetry, and refreshments at the Faulkner County Library! Sunday, September 22nd kicks off our next round of Author Talks: Poetry @ The Public and we are thrilled to have Hendrix professors and authors, Hope Coulter & Samyak Shertok, as our highlighted poets. Doors open at 2:00 pm for refreshments and a meet-and-greet followed by author readings starting at 2:30 pm. This event is free and open to the public.

About the Authors:
Hope directs the Hendrix-Murphy Foundation Programs in Literature and Language at Hendrix. Her poetry collection The Wheel of Light was published in 2015 by BrickHouse Books, and her work has appeared in numerous journals, among them Literary Matters, Yale Review, and Flyway: Journal of Writing & Environment. Recognition for her work includes the 2023 Meringoff Writing Award for Nonfiction, the 2022 Meringoff Writing Award for Poetry, the Porter Prize for Literary Excellence, and a Louisiana Life Short Story Award. She holds a bachelor's degree from Harvard University and an MFA from Queens University in Charlotte.

Samyak joined the Hendrix faculty this semester after serving as the inaugural Hughes Fellow in Poetry at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. His poems appear or are forthcoming in POETRY, The Cincinnati Review, The Gettysburg Review, Gulf Coast, The Iowa Review, The Kenyon Review, New England Review, Best New Poets, and elsewhere. A finalist for the National Poetry Series, the Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize, and the Jake Adam York Prize, he has received fellowships from Aspen Words, the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation, and the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown. His work has been awarded the Robert and Adele Schiff Award for Poetry, the Gulf Coast Prize in Poetry, and the Auburn Witness Poetry Prize. Originally from Nepal, he holds a PhD in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Utah.
The Conway library serves as the headquarters library for the county sytem of six libraries as well as the Faulkner County–Van Buren County Regional Library.
